Cultural Activities

In addition to being a picture perfect backdrop to any tropical holiday, Fiji offers a proud and diverse culture for guests to discover, every bit as beautiful as the scenery. While staying with Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, you have the option of exploring the local area for yourself in the nearby areas of Denarau and Nadi. Sofitel’s concierge can assist with any enquiries and day visits to the following attractions.

Port Denarau

The marina at Port Denarau, located just five minutes drive from Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, serves as a hub for all services to the stunning islands of the Mamanuca and Yasawa groups. The jet boats that can be seen roaring through the mangrove swamps surrounding Denarau can also be hired from the marina. For details on the myriad cruises and day trips available, please contact the Tour Desk located in the lobby.

Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple

At the southern end of Nadi’s main street, set against a beautiful mountain backdrop, is a large, elaborate and colorful Hindu temple. One of the few Dravidian temples of its size outside India, it is open daily to visitors. Visitors should ensure that modest clothing is worn on excursions to the temple.

Garden of the Sleeping Giant

A peaceful place for a picnic or a stroll through the orchids, lily ponds and foothills, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant is open daily to visitors. Founded by American actor Raymond Burr, these picturesque gardens are nestled at the foot of the Sabeto mountain range between Nadi and Lautoka. The gardens are so named as the ridge of the mountains above them resembles the profile of a giant in repose. .

Nadi Town

Whether it’s for some shopping, a visit to the local market, or just to sample some Fijian street life, a visit to the main street of Nadi is simple from the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa. Just 8 minutes down the Denarau road from the resort, it is easily reached by taxi from the hotel.
